Hitachi

Hitachi and EPA (Energomontaz Polnic S.A.) received the order of FGD (Flue Gas Desulfrization System) for Elektrownia "Kozienice" S.A. coal-fired power plant No.10 (500MW) in Poland.
This FGD will be in operation at the beginning of 2011.

It has been strict in Europe that the regulation for a coal-fired power plant discharging Sulfur Oxides (SOx) and Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) from January 2008.
For this reason, the electric power company of European countries is advancing the measure against installing FGD and DeNOx.
Since Hitachi FGD can remove SOx contained in the coal flue gas discharged from plant 90% or more, it is effective in prevention of air pollution.

Kozienice power plant is a coal-fired power plant, which is located in 80km south of Warsaw, and has total 2,860MW capacity of ten units.
Hitachi received the order of 800MW FGD for No.4 to No. 8 unit in June 2004, which is the largest capacity in Poland and Europe. This FGD was supplied in January 2007, and is under operation now.
Babcock-Hitachi, one of associated companies of Hitachi, supplies design, main equipment, project management, and a test operation of FGD. EMP does civil engineering, construction and installation work.
