Jully 1, 2004
Hitachi, Ltd. and Babcock-Hitachi K.K. received jointly with Siemens AG. an order for power generation equipment for the Kogan Creek power plant to be constructed in Queensland, Australia by CEPA (Kogan Creek) Holding Pty Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of CS Energy Ltd., a power company in Queensland. In this project, Hitachi will be in charge of manufacturing and installation of one supercritical pressure boiler of 750MW. The order volume for Hitachi is approximately 15 billion yen, and the power plant is scheduled to commercially operate in mid-2007.
The Kogan Creek power plant is a high-efficiency power plant having the highest output per generator in Australia and also having the world's most advanced supercritical technology applied thereto. As there are future plans including operation of an aluminum refining plant in the State of Queensland with expected increase in power demand from the second half of 2007, the power plant will be constructed for the purpose of meeting the increasing power demand.
From here on, Hitachi will manufacture the boiler and Siemens AG will manufacture the turbines and generators while the overall construction will be conducted by both companies. Hitachi has a track record of delivering 12 large-size turbines, generators and boilers in Australia in the past. Its track record and cutting-edge technology were highly evaluated by the customer, leading to the order received this time.
Using the order received this time as a foothold, Hitachi will deploy order-receiving activities on a global scale by exploiting its supercritical pressure technology.
