Hitachi and Itochu Corporation received an order for turbines and power generators for the Wangqu Thermal Power Plant with a total capacity of 1,200MW (600MW
2 sets) to be built as Shangyuan Power Plant in Chengzhi, Shanxi Province, jointly with China Donghuang Electric, Chengdu, Sichuang Province. The total contract price is about 20 billion yen.
The power plant will use supercritical pressure steam generation technology designed to heat up and pressurize steam. The plant will be the most leading-edge high-efficiency power generation plant of all coal-fired power plants in China.
The consortium of three companies including Hitachi has so far received orders for five power plants with a total capacity of 4,300MW including the Jiujiang Power Plant (Jiangxi Province) and the Taketo Power Plant (Inner Mongolia). The present one will be the consortium's first supercritical-pressure power plant.
